Cleveland, Ohio, selected to host
2009 U.S. Figure Skating Championships
Cleveland, OH (Dec. 21, 2006) – U.S. Figure Skating announced today the selection of Cleveland, Ohio, as the host city for the 2009 U.S. Figure Skating Championships, tentatively scheduled for Jan. 18-25, 2009. The event, held annually since 1914, is the nation’s most prestigious figure skating event. Over the course of one week, the event will crown 12 national champions in ladies, men’s, pairs and ice dancing on the senior, junior and novice levels.
“We appreciate U.S. Figure Skating choosing Cleveland as the site of the 2009 Nationals. We worked hard to bring this event to Cleveland and will work even harder with the local figure skating community to assure it is a major success. This is one of the most significant events a U.S. city can host and our community will rally to give it the attention it deserves. The U.S. Championships annually attract more than 1,500 figure skating athletes, coaches and officials to the host city. They are expected to have a $25 million economic impact on the local economy.. Read more...
